Egyptian mediators have renewed talks on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal with terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, according to a report Monday in the Hezbollah-aligned Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar.

According to the Beirut-based outlet, terrorist groups in the coastal enclave appeared headed toward a gradual escalation in violence against Israel.
The report claimed the various factions in Gaza were contemplating something along the lines of 2017's "March of Return" protests, including confrontations with IDF forces on the border with Israel rock-throwing and firebombing alongside the launch of incendiary balloons.
Continuing to reject Israel's demands Gaza's rehabilitation be conditioned on the return of fallen IDF soldiers and captive civilians in Hamas' hands, the terrorist group has insisted a possible prisoner exchange deal be kept separate from any agreements for easing conditions in Gaza, the report claimed.
The report comes as the IDF on Monday announced Israeli forces had struck Hamas military infrastructure in northern Gaza. The strikes came several hours after incendiary balloons launched from the terrorist enclave sparked at least three blazed in southern Israel following a month of relative quiet on the border.
