Factory 375 JDJ
« on: February 07, 2004, 01:58:45 PM »
I just read the current issue of Shooting Times and there was an article about a factory G2 in 375 JDJ.  Also, TC is offer its own line of ammo for it (made by Hornady) in 220 Flat nose and 225 spire point.  Anyone seen one yet?

I saw this mentioned on another forum. they said the price for factory rounds will run about $40 for 20. I will stick to my reloads.

Is your bbl ported?  How does it compare in recoil to the Encore in 308?  Not sure if I could handle the recoil if more than a 15" 308.  Any input would be appreciated.

my barrel is a SSK 14 inch 375 jdj with ssk break. It has the ssk krome Finnish.

I have yet to shoot any encore so I can not compare the two.

with the ssk break it pushes straight back in my hand and very little to no muzzle climb. the recoil is stout but not bad. I have shot a 10 inch 44 mag barrel. the 375 jdj  is not that much more then the hot 44 mag loads I was shooting out of the 10 inch barrel
If you live close to MD you are welcome to come by and we will go out to the range.

Doesnt sound all that bad....  Thanks for the offer to shoot, but Im not that close to you in order to do that.  Anybody in the Pittsburgh area shoot this setup?  The factory bbls wont have a muzzle tamer from what I read, so I would imagine the muzzle rise might be considerable.  I have fired many 10" 44 mag Contenders and dont find them to be uncomfortable to shoot.  Where you shooting max loads?  Thanks for your time.

Shawn

my loads are about just below max. 270 gr bullet and 44.0 grs or h322. this is close to max in the book but I think i could work them up a little more and still be safe

Or if they will be identical.  Remember the Whisper was released, but not with the same rate of twist.  Food for thought...

Hey Rickyp,
I just purchased a TC barrel in .375 JDJ and am in the process of getting the dies and some cases.  Where did you get yours.  I am having a problem finding the dies.  I know that Hornaday now has loaded rounds for sale, but don't list any dies at their web site.

Thanks,
Larry

Larry,

You have to order them from SSK,  But I did order a custom neck sizing die right from hornady. I just called them and asked, you may be able to call and order a set from them as well worth a call.
