How did those Americans get there? What were they doing in one of the most hostile, anti American, anti Christian nations in the world?
These thousands of Americans couldn't have all been missionaries.

No doubt some are social workers trying to better the Afghan people. And some were missionaries. Others no doubt had their own agenda. One of my nephews spend several years in Afghanistan rebuild the houses of poor people that lost everything during earlier wars.

They were staffers, contractors, mercs, tech help, specialist, intel..... probably making good money believing they were doing patriotic good. Probably a good number of wokeism social engineers, too.

When I was still in the trucking business, I remember drivers quitting the state side driving jobs, and going to Iraq, and Afghanistan where they could stay 6 months and make $250,000.00 to $350,000.00 in that 6 months drivin for government contractors.

War pays fantastic money, for everyone but the soldiers.

  Probably long hours, plus the politicians insisted upon some kind of high cost union.  Then there was always the IEDs buried in the roads..which likely caused more dead and injuried trops in Iraq, than any other single item.

why are civilians there? Look at any military base and youll see that LOTS of civilians are needed to keep it running. Lots of contractors, civil service people, supply people. Administration staff. Civilians do these jobs so our soldiers can concentrate on there job. Then on a base like that you they rely on locals for translators, guides, and in the case of afganistan many that fought right along side of our men and women. Do i think this was orchestrated to take our eyes off the border?? You bet i do! But it was done so stupidly that it blew up in his face and became a way bigger problem then he intended and yup in my opinion until the Americans are out of there a higher priority then the border. Which by the way hasnt been overlooked. Matter of fact the supreme court just ruled that trumps border plan must be reinstated in TX.
