Saw Two Crains Today
« on: February 22, 2004, 07:30:01 PM »
Feb 22 2004,  While walking the banks of the Chena river today heard a noise, looked at my partner, he looked at me, we both said crains at the same time.  In a few minutes we heard it again.  We went and investigated.  We found two Crains across the river.  They were walking around in an area where the snow did not cover all the grass.  It's way too early for them to be here, but here they are.  Does this mean we're in for an early break-up?

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

If this weather lasts much longer we will be it seems. Ran down to the glacier flats on Skilak lk. on sat. Lots of water on the ice and one whirl pool, many cracks sucking down water, and some large patches of open water around the pressure ridges. The lake is not long for ice and neither are the creeks and rivers in the area.

In the 40's

It was in the lower 40's on Sunday over here.  Some small streams are loosing their cover and you won't be able to snowgo over them soon.  The eagles came back a couple weeks ago.  I saw 11 on the way home tonight.

I went up on top of Keystone Canyon in the snowgo and could see all the way to the port of Valdez!!!!!!

Hey just becasue I live here I don't have to know all the birds. :)
