savage 10ml II or omega

I am going to buy one or the other.  Any information you can share with me is greatly appreciated.  You have proven to me that you know more than I do about modern muzzleloaders.

Thanks for you replies.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either!

If smokeless is an option for you, the Savage has big edge in non-corrosive propellants + Accu-Trigger and a more completely sealed action, better laminated std. stock, etc., etc. If Pyro / T 7 only, the Omega may be all you want. Personal preference, and a lot depends on how / where you hunt / shoot. And, naturally, what fits you the best.

Neither is a bad choice at all-- personal preference, like so many things, is what really counts.

That was basically the choice I just made recently. Savage ML-10 II w. Accutrigger vs. T/C Thumbhole Omega. I picked an Omega mainly because smokeless powder is not legal for use during any season muzzleloading rifles are legal (including general firearm season). I also had some concerns about loostening a stock screw to remove the bolt due to a posible POI shift.

Also from what I have read the Savage is much more difficult to clean when using black powder or it's subs due to the breach plug/vent liner design which are designed for smokeless and are supposedly (no firsthand knowledge of it) much easier to clean up with smokeless. I have nothing against the Savage or use of smokeless powder, but due to the backwards regs in my state I elected not to buy one.

I'm obviously a bit partial to what Toby Bridges is speaking of here:

But, my Omega was a solid, good-performing gun-- though I prefer an Encore over the Omega.
