Grease for tank tracks...phew! When I was a young, 18 year old tanker in 1955, I served with PFC Terry, a grizzled old tanker/lifer.
Old Terry (he may have been nearing 40), had some very ugly stories to tell, relating to being a tanker entering Germany, and meeting the Volkssturm..that is the old men and Hitler youth who fought many times. to the death.
BTW: Terry was a PFC when I knew him...but he was previously a warrant officer. He found out though, that while a warrant officer can argue with a 2nd lieutenant, beating the lieutenant's butt, was out of the question.
My Grandfather after serving 21 years retired a buck private. I think the last one he knocked out was a Major...
LOL!! Gotta watch out for those officers, especially the field grade ones !
I think my grandson took a bit smarter route.. He was in the Corps for * years and came out a Sgt. Then he went to work for the Feds, by way of NATO.
Now his fed pay grade is equivalent to major..but it still has
some chicken_ _ _ _ !
