When I go where a crowd might gather I carry a Walther P22 with an extra magazine, and a NAA Ranger II in .22mag in my right front pocket.
Going to Home Depot etc. it's just the NAA.

My NAA black widow in 22 mag is a fine little firearm. It's in my pocket the most.

I used to have an NAA .22 Mag with the folding grip, that was a nice and lightweight pocket gun.

The SW 317 kit gun is still the best for concealed carry. Mine is going on 20 years now.

I was just reading through this oldish thread...seven years since last post.
I wonder if any attitudes toward pocket .22s have changed in the last seven years.

Since the 22 Mag has been brought up, I really like my Smith 351PD. It is lighter than the .38 derringer I carried for years. I started to carry that after retiring the 61 Escort, it never failed just didn't want to bet my life on a semi auto.

I bought each of my daughters Taurus revolvers for personal protection. I changed out the hammer and trigger springs to make them more user friendly. I liked the larger capacity cylinders and the adjustable sights. Now Federal has come out with a personal protection 22long rifle ammunition and I am looking forward trying some out.

I don't know, but my Jennings has got to be the worst .22 out there.  It needs at least CCI Stingers to operate somewhat properly, and still I doubt I can empty a mag with out some kind of feeding or extracting issue.  Maybe it has a bad spring, since I bought it (new in the 80s) but either way I would not trust it beyond the first shot.  With all the small frame guns out there, a .22 would be my last choice of pocket gun, even if it was just full of snake shot.

I had one of those and traded it for a 8 shot something or other that I don’t have today. My experience with the Jennings was it worked for me but the guy I traded with said it flew apart. Being fair he did drop it 14’ onto concrete...

ive got two of the base model 22lr naas. Great little guns. real well fit for the price. there a bit awkward for me to shoot because i have big hands but there handy. When i go for my daily walk in the summer i walk in an area known for wolves and with a pair of sweats on there handy to throw in your pocket.. That is the main use for me. My wife carrys one in her purse in a wallet holster. She works where guns are frowned on and that thing stuck in her purse looks just like wallet or smart phone case. Nobody is the wiser. There sure not stopping guns but i feel better with her carrying that then no gun at all. But there a heck of good gun for what they cost.

Now, tis is .22 caliber getting serious..IMO..  A bit big for pocket perhaps, but 8 shots from a 22 mag, isn't something to just shrug off.

I have a NAA "Earl" 4" in 22 mag, it shoots straight, is very light in the pocket. Bit of a pain to reload.

So I have been watching for one of the .22mag top break revolvers to be in stock. Called the "Ranger II" I believe.

My local gun shop has a Ranger II with a 4 inch barrel 22 mag break top. I like everything about it but the price.

The little Ruger semiauto .380 has been made into a .22LR now. I guess I'd now rate it the #1 choice as a pocket .22LR pistol.

  Not exactly pocket, but i am considering this one;

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD0bQLwx52E

A .22 mag with 8 shots and revolver dependability, plus I think many underestimate the 22 mag.

I believe your right about that GB. A retired LEO friend of mine was over shooting at my house. He pulled one out of his pocket and said here shoot this one. It’s small enough. Good trigger. And reasonably good sights. And holds 10 22lr in the magazine +1 in the chamber.

yup the absolute only reason im carrying a 22 for defense is because what im wearing doesnt allow a bigger gun so its one of my NAAs hands down.
i'm really happy with my teeny NAA
.22 . i have the .22 mag not the l.r.
but i'm sure it would be the same quality.
if you can find one of the old jennings
at a good price you may want to snag
it up. i don't know what they go for
now. back when i got my last 2 they
were $67.00 . i still have a box with
the price on the front. the mags were
7.95
i'm sure it's a different game after all the
recent panic, so you may not find anything
priced decent.
i have another, an iver johnson tp-22 that's
a good one i got for a good price.
if you have the bucks to spend, you might
find a walther tph - the inspiration for the i.j.

In all fairness. I love the 22. If that was all I could hide on my body I would carry it butt, would also have a man purse, aka a fanny pack with something a mite larger...

The standard NAA is a pain to reload and may be the cause that folks don't practice with it enough.
Mine is the Ranger tip up which is a breeze to load and unload, therefore I shoot it a lot.
