I like to keep a crossword puzzle book conveniently nearby. When faced with a few minutes wait for anything, I think it helps to keep the brain active, and vocabulary sharp.
However, these days the old crossword puzzle books are becoming hard to find. It seems those things called "word search" puzzles are taking over. They are very boring, since the words are printed out, and all the player does is locate trhe appropriate letters and circle them. Very little mental exercise.
The only rteason I can think the crossword puzzles are in decline, may be because fewer people these days are competent spellers, so in the "word search" games, the words are already spelled out for them.
Does that sound logical?
