Some terms mean different things to different people.

.
Let's start out by saying ..no right or wrong answer..just opinion. Here are some words that have differing meanings to various persons..what is your view..  Remember, no right..no wrong.

 1)  Fundamentalist

 2) Apostle

 3) Evangelical

 4) Prophet

Perhaps if we can understand the spectrum of opinion when considering these terms,  we could better understand one another.

Yes; that is being AWAKENED...  Pleased you caughtthat, Mcbammer.  That is another example of mental laziness, taking a word such as awakened and simply saying "woke"..for lazy reasons, I assume.

I notice there are several "views" of the question, but you are the only one thus far, who has replied, so perhaps I better explain ...  BTW..thanks for the reply.

  1) Fundamentalist..  There are some folks who have their minds made up completely, concerning all of scripture and will not budge on any point. Rigid as cast iron !  My take is that there are several fundamental beliefs which are held by all credible Christian bodies, beyond that the rest can be considered, discussed, and personally interpreted.  I call those who hold to those "fundamentals' as fundamentalists.

 2) Apostle..  The way I read the Bible, Apostles had to have met Jesus personally..and be appointed an apostle by Him.  Still, there are some groups that refer to some of their leadership as apostles.  Not for me, but that is their choice.

 3) Evangelical..  I take the "dictionary" explanation of evangelical..that is, one who seeks to evangelize, or lead others to salvation.  Some folks seem to think "evangelical", also includes the pentecostal or Charismatic  experience.  Although an evangelical churchcan include those things (IMO), there are many local churches including my own that does not include that.

 4) Prophet... As with the title apostle, some church bodies refer to some of their leadership as prophets.  I happen to believe John the Baptist was the last OT prophet...and he spoke up about 400 years after the others ceased their speaking.  ..But that is their choice..and they are welcome to it.

..Hope that elucidates just a bit.  So just keep in mind, when you hear any of those terms, it may just mean something other than what you may think it does.

Just glancing at first, I bunched the first three together, but after reading your explanation I agree with you on each point.
So I guess I'm not a fundamentalist. :)

In my thinking:  Fundamentalist generally applies to those who have a hard time separating King James from St James.
Apostle refers to those called to spread the words of God.
Evangelical refers to those who belong to congregations that believe in evangelizing the world for Jesus.
Prophet refers to those called by God to speak His words to His creation.

Thanks for the contributions guys, I believe it shows the differering views we Christians can have,  when we consider offices and practices.
As I said..no right/wrong about it, but it may well help us to understand where each of us comes from.

I like Mcbammer’s set of definitions. (partly because they save me from writing out the same ideas.)
