I sure am. Can't wait. I have a honey of a spot in Central NE that lets you shoot up close, and far off. Lots of fun. DM

Sure sounds like fun. Might make it out to SD this year.
We used to have alot of groundhogs around here but I think the coyotes ate them all! Have been working on this though

My son and I go for three or four days during his spring break next month. I have family owned property with hundreds of acres of excellent pd opportunities. That just means I have to crank out the handloads. The shots range from 15 to 450 yds. as that is all the longer the terrain will let you see them. Normally we get between 250 and 300 shots per day each and that is with breaks, lunch etc.
This year I am planning on making a couple attempts at coyotes while we are there just cause there are so many.

Where we go is only about 35 acres, but is nestled in some hills. We just walk through with 22's and 12 ga.s, and have a blast. We get shots as close as 10 foot, and as far away as we can shoot. Then later in the summer, we get out the bigger guns, and sit. DM

Dalt - I 've done that before ....just walk out in them and bust a few. I like to snipe them more..........nothing quite like that 350 yard shot that rips 'em while they are standing next to one of their brothen.
By mid summer those 15 yard shots are pretty rare and the norm is more like 150.

I agree with you there. I like taking my .50 cal Hawken out and trying long shots on them too.    It is really addictive though, but it is cheap fun! DM

:D  Yep I just can't wait.  I got a new 22" bull barrel for my Contenter in a 17 rem and had my trigger re-worked to 1 1/2 lbs this winter.  Mounted a 8x32x44 scope on it.  Right now I an busy loading some 20gr Vmaxs up and developings some loads for it.  I will also be taking along my 26" hvy barrel Encore 223 rem along shooting Winchester 45 gr white box ammo.

Let the shooting begin.

Getting ready here too.  Got about 700 .223, about 500 .22-250, 400 17 Mach IV, and 200 .264 Win. Mag (long range rig).

Going for 1,000 yards this year.

Still up to our elbows in snow around here but I did go to the range today and fine tune my dog rig. To say I am looking forward to it is a big understatement. We have about a zillion acres of public land around these parts and most of it has either rock chucks, Columbian ground squirrels, or prarie dogs. And not just a few coyotes. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it too.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

Whew!  I was worried I was the only one chomping at the bit.  Dalton, what part of NE are you from?  I live about 30-35 min east of Grand Island.  Where I shoot shots are mostly inside 200 yds so I do alot of shooting with my 17 HMR.  It's a little easier on the shoulder than my 25-06 too.

I know about that....problem is my son never gets excited to go. Once we're there its a different story. I keep having to slow him down cause I'm afraid of the gun melt down syndrome.

three weeks from today my son and I go out for the first go round of the year. Been loading bullets every night now for a week. What I wouldn't give for a progressive press..........by the time we go I will have about 800-900 rds. loaded and may even buy a few "white box" packs from Wally world. I got one new barrel to break in and one on the way that should be here by then.
The plan for us is three days -  some shooting pds and some callin for yotes. Depends alot on the weather

Mike B. - Won't happen............you will have to go at least 70-80 miles from the city. Email me and I can give you some clues on where to start.
You can bet that any pd closer than that to Denver has either been poisoned or some tree hugger is guarding with his life.
Just a little tidbit on that.........where do you think those tree huggers "relocate" pds too. They dump them on private property for some farmer to deal with.........thats one clue.

If there is anybody looking for a good reloading press I would recommend a HORNADY LOCK AND LOAD AUTO PRESS. I have had one for a few years now and it sure works nice. You can reload hundreds of shells an hour, and they shoot very well.I hope this well help somebody make up there mind on what one to buy. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN. :D
