Howdy Folks,

I just got started reloading for my T/C Encore 26" heavy barrel 25-06 and was just wondering if anyone had any favorite loads using the same barrel and how good the groups were. My goal is to work up a good load for groundhog using something around a 75 to 87 grain bullet. So far I've loaded the 75gr V-MAX and the 85gr Nosler BT I just haven't had a chance to go to the range to see the results.(Too much work and not enough play time)

I have been using a Sierra 100gr spbt. They told me that it has a much better BC than the lighter 25cal bullet they sell and would fly flatter. I use a hefty charge of IMR 4831 with a win LRP. Excellent load, 3/8" 100 meter groups is the norm. I have used this on prairie dogs out to 600+ yds with good success. KN

I just got the same 26" heavy barrel from a fellow on this forum and he was using 75 grain Hornady HP's and V-Max with Hodgdon 4350. They were shooting .75" groups at 100 yards.

I tried some of his loads and one I came up with using Accurate Arms XMR4350 (55 grains) with the V-Max, Winchester cases and CCI250 primers. The bullets are seated out pretty far and there is not much for the case to hold on to. My results with his loads and with mine were .5" to .75" at 100.

Real happy with it.

I have not experimented much with bullets that light in mine. I shoot 100 gr Hornadys with IMR 4831 and get great groups. This is one gun I have that groups better with hotter loads.
