The folly of it all....
Now the NFL wants a new stadium at or near Buffalo. Taxpayers are expected to furnish a couple billion if located in the suburbs..over 3 billion , if located in the city.
Of course they are being unrealistic, especially if they go for the city location, since there is not enough highway infrastructure to handle the traffic surge. Then there is another problem..tailgating !
Tailgating parties are a regular in Orchard Park, where the present stadium is located..lavatories etc, are there for them. ..But moved to the city..tailgating would be a no-no, since they could anticipate vandalism and other unsavory things, happening throughout the week.
So I sit here and wonder..What is wrong with the present stadium..can't be much more than 30 years old, and for Heaven's sake, the colideum in Rome is still standing strongh after 2,000 years !
..And last but not least, why must taxpayers foot the bill... the NFL makes many billions of bucks, so why should taxpayers pay for new facilities, since they don't pay taxes to build new facilitise for Ford, GM, AT&T or General Mills ?
