My grandson has kept contact with several of the guys he served more closely with, Josh Chiarini being one of them.
Chiarini went home to become an EMT and PA in Providence, RI..along with obtaining his pilot's license.
Mahan, another Marine my grandson served closely with...after going on to train other Marines how to do sniper work from a helicopter, left the Corps. and became a firefighter, I believe in Denver.
Below, see Mahan, tall 6'5" (USMC tattoo) on right, my grandson next to him (taken at FOB in Iraq).. He and my grandson were the two designated "overwatch" (snipers) for their unit... And when doing house-to-house cleanouts, they worked as a team, covering each other's backs.
Doesn't hurt to have the top 2 shots in the unit covering one another..
Sadly, a couple months ago, my grandson got a notice that Mahan was killed in an ATV accident..
