Cemetery party time! !
« on: December 26, 2021, 01:35:42 PM »
I know I'm getting old.
I was raised in a completely
different time, and with a
completely different mindset
than what's prevalent in 2021.

All that said,  who carries all
your party goods to the cemetery
and sets up your folding table and
folding chairs and has a fiesta
around a grave? Break out the
beers and the food and the
boombox and party down amongst
the headstones? Eat and guzzle
until you bust ?

JMHO-  I was always tought to be
respectful and reverent and not to
make a spectacle in church or a
cemetery or a similar venue. And to
be low key in a library or a similar place.

Anybody raise hell because they can?

Cemeteries are places where your on your best behavior. Quite, and respectful of the dead.
Never spent much time in a library, but it would seem quite would be the order of the day.
I know bikers that bragged about a funeral for their biker relatives, and friends, where they had a pretty rowdy funeral and then sat around the open grave gettin drunk, and throwing their beer cans into the grave.
We had a salesman once that got killed, and was an officer in a 1%er outlaw club. I rode to the funeral as a representative of the Harley dealership.
Lotta alcohol on the parking lot, guns accidentally dropped, and burnouts on bikes.

It was irreverently ridiculous, and obscene.

Why would you want to do all that in a cemetery? I know Mexicans do but it isn’t a party. It’s a remembrance of a loved one.

Rememberance of a loved one don't have any thing to do with getting drunk.

They don’t. I have a Mexican friend who went to one graveside down in Mexico. He sent me picks, no alcohol at all.
 Very respectful event.

I knew I'd never seen Mexicans act like that at funeral, but my experience with such things have all been in west Texas.
Thought it might be different from where you're at.

Cemetery in Clovis has them for any family that is buried there. Every three years or so.

Germans like to drink for a funeral.

Not trying to start a feud, but this
is America, and we've always been
respectful of others and a behaved
with at least a minimum amount
of dignity in what are considered
hallowed places
Just me,  I don't really care what
happens in other countries
People should be respectful of
those who don't think a graveside
party is appropriate

I stay quiet in places like that, not for the people buried there but for the family and friends who might be mourning.  Most people have family who loves them no matter what kind of person they were and the least I can do is allow them to mourn in peace.
