THANKS FOR THE WEBSITE INFO OGEMAKW IF I FIND A GOOD LOAD I WILL POST THE RECIPE THAT I FIND WORKS WELL, SINCE THE NWTF WAS IN TOWN THIS WEEKEND I WAS ABLE TO TALK WITH MATT MORRETT ABOUT THIS AND HE SUGGESTED THAT I USE 110 GRAINS OF FFG THEN USE A KNIGHT PLASTIC SHOT CUP WITH 1 5/8 OZ.#5 SHOT AND A FELT OVERWAD AND HE SAID IT WORKED OUT WELL WITH HIS GUN. SO ONCE I TRY THIS I WILL LET ALL KNOW. :grin:

Last spring I shot a Gobbler at 44 laser verified yards with the White Thunder.

The load of 1-7/8 oz of magnum #5 hard lead shot inside a Ballistics Products Turkey Ranger Shotcup (4 slits cut down to the bottom of second internal ring) over 90 grains of 777 FFG, topped off with 2 of my homemade styrofoam over shot wads! Why 2 overshot wads, you might ask? By using 2 overshot wads, the second one acts like a jam nut on the first, if you have lost your load prematurely , you will understand! The styrofoam is light, seals out moisture, and doesn't swell or fail if wet from rain.

That exact load is good out to 50 yards in my White Thunder with .665 Hastings II extended choke tube!

What choke tube have you got? What is the constriction? What threads does it have Rem-choke, Win-choke, Hastings II or other?

ballisticproducts.com has several hunting wads, and even free loading manuals in PDF format like for the Turkey Ranger Wad that I use. They also have Heavy Shot wads, steel shot, bismouth etc,.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO I SHOT THE GUN THE OTHER DAY I WAS USING THE KNIGHT WADS AND OVERWADS SHOTTING #5 SHOT IN JUST LEAD SHOOTING 120 GRAINS OF BLACK POWDER SUBSTITUTE WITH A 1 5/8 OZ LOAD GOT GOOD RESULTS AT 20-25 YARDS AFTER THAT MY PATTERN WAS TO OPEN FOR ME TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT TAKING A TURKEY WITH IT . THAT WAS ALSO THE BEST LOAD I FOUND I DROPPED DOWN IN BOTH POWDER AND SHOT SIZE AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT I FELT WAS GOOD ENOUGH.SO I CALLED B.P. AND ORDERED SOME NICKLE PLATED #5S AND TURKEY RANGER SHOT CUPS WILL GO TOMORROW TO PICK UP SOME WONDER WADS SO I CAN HOPEFULLY PATTERN AGAIN THIS WEEKEND. WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WITH THIS LOAD. AT 30 YARDS MY BEST LOAD HAD 9 PELLETS GOING INTO HEAD OF TURKEY WITH A VERY EVEN OPEN PATTERN THAT WAS CENTERED ON THE HEAD. :grin:

Well I sure didn't mean to get your buckskin panties in a WAD Ramrod, rollingb, WD45 and crow-feather. I am sure you guys must wear out a lot of moccasins in a year, cause what in the world would a Traditional close-minded person ever do with a vehicle? I'll bet that between the four of you, you cant even count to ten, cause what would you ever need them modern numbers of 2-10 for anyway? What would you guys ever need one of them wiz-banged computers for? Might want to think about how really close minded you guys really are!!! Sheesh!

The guy asked for help and I tried to help him after 6 days of no help from you guys. I hope you were entertained with your remarks, because Lord knows you were only trying to help, right?

Just for the record, I have a Thompsen sidelock, or is that to modern for your little minds too?

Before you get your panties in a bunch, read the topic header here again. TRADITIONAL Muzzle Loading Rifles & Shotguns Then read the header for the other section. MODERN Inline Muzzle Loading Rifles
While technically EDGE52 did post in the wrong section, he probably didn't understand that the modern forum included shotguns because of shotguns not included in the name. Instead of bitching, try doing something usefull instead.

Too bad there isn't a "traditional pantload" forum. Sorry about the unhelpful incursions from the boxes of rocks. :roll:

Anyway, the basic T 7 FFg load is with the Winchester Win. AA12R wad. Pick your load from 1-1/8 to 1-7/8 oz. (nat. 1-7/8 oz. for turkeys), and 100 gr. T7 is a fairly stout load. With #4 or 5's, if you load to about 1100 fps you are good to go. BP has the monster wads for heavier loads.
