For old time Army vets..

Many of us are not aware thatthe Army has changed the lyrics to it's theme song.  Same tune, just word changes.  No longer do "the caissons go rolling along"

   Here's the new lyrics;

     THE ARMY GOES ROLLING ALONG"

Verse:
March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free.

Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory.

We’re the Army and proud of our name!

We’re the Army and proudly proclaim:

First Chorus:
First to fight for the right,

And to build the Nation’s might,

And the Army goes rolling along.

Proud of all we have done,

Fighting till the battle’s won,

And the Army goes rolling along.

Refrain:
Then it’s hi! hi! hey!

The Army’s on its way.

Count off the cadence loud and strong;

For where’er we go,

You will always know

That the Army goes rolling along.

Second Chorus:
Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,

San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,

And the Army went rolling along.

Minute men, from the start,

Always fighting from the heart,

And the Army keeps rolling along.

Refrain:
(same as above)

Third Chorus:
(slower, more freely)

Men in rags, men who froze,

Still that Army met its foes,

And the Army went rolling along.

Faith in God, then we’re right,

And we’ll fight with all our might,

As the Army keeps rolling along.

Refrain:
Then it’s hi! hi! hey!

The Army’s on its way.

Count off the cadence loud and strong; (two! three!)

For where’er we go,

You will always know

That the Army goes rolling along! (keep it rolling!)

And the Army goes rolling along!

I particularly like the second verse..  I do wonder how long the "woke" brass will allow vs #4, since it speaks favorably of God..

And they remember all of that? The Air Force could use some house cleaning also.

.Yeah..I noticed that is an extensive set of lyrics !  Probably just a couple verses with chorus would be plenty..

However, it was time for a change, especially since the Army doesn't use the old style caissons anymore..  ;)  ;D

It's all about the kinder gentler military, many references to gender and other things that make certain soldiers uncomfortable have been changed, and it has been going on far longer than just recently.  The Code of Conduct was changed before I retired, it was changed from "I am an American fighting man.." to I am an American...

The caissons were used to move casualties off the battlefield, now just in ceremonial burials.  I am sure it was to keep the new soldiers from feeling that the caissons keep rolling along meant the dead keep coming.

Does this new military need to understand? An enemy isn’t going to to handle you with kid gloves. Especially if your a POW.

Yes, the caissons are used today for burials, and earlier for removing casualties.  I believe their original prime use was for hauling extra cannon balls and accessories for cannons.

I believe the tune is from a John Philip Sousa original, entitled "Field Artillery.

I wonder how our pussified army would react to the Japanese of world War 2. Torture, execution and rape was a game to them. They were cold blooded ruthless killers who would fight to the death even when they knew all was lost.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

We  desperately need to get an intelligent administration in Washington...or lose it all.  The Demonrats have sowed slovenly evil into the military...among some very good troops.

Actually, from my observations..the troops who are of traditional values, the ones who have held the line in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11, are likely the most professional, most capable, we have ever produced.

I am speaking chiefly from my experience relating to my Marine grandson and his fellow Spec Ops troops, but of course, that is a few years in the past.
However, I can only say...those troops were a cut above the average.

No, i am not discounting the "Frozen Chosin" or the heroes of Valley forge, who had to be extremely tough,
but ouughness, coupled with professionalism, is where they are at.
.
...But agreed, we need a non-brain dead, normal administration in Washington...and our military of today needs a good 'shaking out'..to get rid of the Fascists, commies, man-mommies, butches, trans and other misfits..

BTW;  The caisson was most often used to carry cnnon accessories.  Often th e teamster would sit on the caisson, while pulling the cannon behind..
