had to say it was for the grandkids
« on: January 28, 2022, 06:43:42 AM »
ordered a M&P ar22 braced pistol. I think im going to try a binary trigger on it. Told the wife its for the grandkids to have fun with ;)  Sad though when the only 22 ammo thats available bulk is thunderbolts and there even 50 bucks a brick plus shipping. Going to have to buck up and buy some though. I hate to break into my stash.

I bought one for the same reason. I stopped with a LaRue trigger. Grandpa enjoy playing with it as much or more than the kids do.

just got the shipping notice. It will be here Wednesday . I ended up buying 6 bricks of 22s off of midway and the wife scored me two more at walmart yesterday. At least i can leave my stash of 22s alone. I try to keep 10 bricks for just in case and hate to bust into them and i think this will be an ammo eater.

Do not oil the firing pin. I put a drop of oil on mine because it's steel on steel and moves. Instant jam-o-mantic. I took the firing pin out and cleaned the pin and hole it fits in completely. Now it's back to shooting anything I load it with. The firing pin is a tapered pin in a tapered hole and evidently the oil prevents it from moving as it should. It was just one tiny drop but it messed up the gun.

I once had an exact STG 44 replica that was chambered in 22lr. The exact same weight as a real one and made in Germany by GSG, ATI German Sporting Guns.Pretty much only a cool looking toy which i kept for about a year, then i traded it off at a gun show. Some of those GSG guns are remarkably well built and accurate, in both the looks and for hitting the target. Even the magazines were made of metal. But of course the ammo didn’t weigh as much as a real one. But with a 22 barrel it was close. They also make an MP40 a WW2 German sub machine, i haven’t ever seen one of those though.

only 1022 i have left is a stainless take down. Its been a good gun other then when i run my can on it. It tends to get muddy in the action real fast and start jamming and its more of job to clean it then an ar style gun.
