I believe in wind chill. I can certainly tell the difference in how 20 degrees for example on a still morning and one when the wind is blowing or just step behind something that blocks the wind and you will feel it. It doesn't affect inert material but it darn sure does living bodies.

Scientific American
Fact or Fiction?: Wind Chill Is Real

The infamous polar vortex has put the U.S. and Canada in a deep freeze several times already this winter. Alarmed weather forecasters are now routinely displaying big maps that show the extremely low wind chill values: –34 degrees Fahrenheit in Minneapolis, –36 degrees F in Chicago, –39 degrees F in Fargo, N.D., last night alone. But if the air temperature is, say, 15 degrees F, and a 20–mile per hour wind makes the wind chill –2 degrees F, would the temperature of your exposed skin drop to that temperature?

No. Your skin temperature cannot drop below the actual air temperature. The coldest your uncovered face could get would be 15 degrees F whether the wind is calm or howling at 40 mph.
So what’s the point of wind chill, then? Should we worry about it? Is it deceiving?...

...If wind chill is not the actual temperature on your skin, why bother reporting it? This is a fair question. Some meteorologists say it would be more useful to report “minutes until frostbite” rather than wind chill values. If viewers know how quickly their exposed skin will freeze, they might be more cautious. And yet, frostbite times don’t provide very useful clues about how much clothing to wear.

Yeah really. I'd rather be outside on a zero degree day with no wind than a 30 degree day with a 20 mph wind.

The fact remains that moving air removes heat quicker than still air. Your skin temperature won't drop below the air surrounding it but you feel the cooling effect of moving air much quicker than still air, therefore the wind chill effect. It's what it feels like, not what it actually is.

Feel Like numbers are TOTALLY bs make-believe item talking weather heads use to pull a fast one on the general public.

I have been in and dealt with sub-
zero temps. for decades, a 20 mph wind on a -10 does not feel like a -35 below day or anything even remotely close, that is total BS.
Any one who puts even a tad of faith in the broadcast "FEELS LIKE" numbes is an absolute doofus. :o

I have dealt with snow dust blowing into my face at subzero temps., it is not pleasant but you get used to it and deal with it; if you are out long enough and working hard enough, the heat and sweat that builds up under your clothes , can be dangerous , not some bs wind chill baloney. 8)

2 degrees at Noon Hour, bright sun and no wind at all.
Temps. at night for the next ten days, according to the weather service, all are in the singie digit to sub-zero range but supposedly there is one daytime in the thirties and a few in the lower twenties.

A good old fashioned real winter, now we need another 16 inches of snow for the next growing season. 8)

Some of the clothing they make now works very well at keeping moisture off your body. I got an under layer top from Kuiu that i wore hunting this year, and its amazing how well it works at keeping you warm and keeping moisture from sweat off you.  The down side is that its pretty expensive.

Just came in from blowing snow; it was 2 degrees when I went out now it warmed up to 4 degrees F.

Had to take a break, my finger tips were burning to the point it is getting dangerous; cannot find a decent pair of gloves where my finger tips do not get too cold from holding on to the snow-blower handles.
Tried two pair, small black liners , did not work; if I stop blowing and shovel, tips warm up to the point I am not worried..

The Weather talking heads babbled we were to get 5-6 inches of snow here, they got hit hard , thirty miles north and farther from here, but all we got was, at most two and one-half inches of snow dust, with the wind it did make drifts, even here 3 feet high and worse.

Single digit to sub-zero nights for the next seven days but the first days in March are going to be above average so every thing will turn into a sloppy mess in daylight and ice puddles at night.
I have never liked the month of March; it is always dirty and humid. :o

It's 70 degrees righ now. High will be somewhere from 34-37 tomorrow. Weatherguesser is having trouble making up his mind. We will also have 25-30 mph wind. I am going to hibernate inside away from the wind chill.

Only 75 here today. Massive storms moving my way from Mississippi that will get here before morning. Loads of thunder and lightning and possible tornadoes in it they say.

70 yesterday, 14 this morning and may make it to 34 today. Back in the mid 50's tomorrow. This is why I call our winter weather yo-yo weather, up down, up, down. I stuck my head out the door earlier and the wind definitely has a chill.

It is a brisk -2 at 10:00 P.M., I am thinking about going out and starting my car, not because it is so cold it will not start but it has not been started for two days so the engine is cold to the core.

Supposed to hit 40 Monday and be in the 30s all week so winter may be coming to an end but at that, March can be nasty with sub-zero, heavy snow and sudden warm spells all at once which can cause heavy flooding some years.
Would not leave the North Country even it some one paid me, makes life interesting. 8)

OH, OH, just saw the evening weather forecast and the highs for next week have dropped by 6 degrees, they are mostly women wearing dresses at night but I will say -- Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire -- anyway. :o

Yeah, they freeze overnight. I use an ax on the ice, about a week ago we had 3 and 4 degree weather, and the ice was 7 and 8" thick.
Cut a hole with the ax, and shovel out the ice.
