By perfected I guess you mean for cars, because Japan and others, already use this tech for their trains.

I guess its going to boil down to gravitational mass. Push or pull in this case.  That train still has a rail, is it +OR - ?

Once again, what was once considered as SciFi , is now real. Say, you somehow went back to 1980. And you had your iPhone. They would absolutely freak out. And think what they would think about what’s happening to America today.

I guess its going to boil down to gravitational mass. Push or pull in this case.  That train still has a rail, is it +OR - ?

They do have tracks of sorts, but the train levitates when in motion, it is locked to the track to prevent it floating off the rails due to speed and curves.  But cars, in the future (probably far future), can use a version of the phone charging system built into the roadways, solving the time/distance issue.

There's a lot of "futuristic " science fiction
type technology that the military has
for years before the general public sees
any of it. Best example I can think of is
back when I was young and lasers were a
highly technical complex thing that took
up a good sized room, just like the
computers of the day 
Now any kid can buy a laser pointer for
a dollar and change at the dollar store,
and a computer is built into most
every cellular phone.

I've always thought that the gubmint has
ray guns that work like a plasma cutter
does, except that it would project a
hot jet out like the science fiction death ray
back in the old days. You still don't see
much about the microwave weapons
that they have
