Hydrogen is not a dense fuel like diesel or gasoline.  If it is liquified it has to be -400 something degrees.  This makes it very dangerous to use alone.  Companies have figured out they can mix 20% hydrogen with natural gas and it still work fine in natural gas equipment.  Compressed natural gas has been around for 30 years or more.  Utility companies use it all the time in their vehicles.  Oil companies would not install the pressurization and filling stations.

Yes, it is super flammable your average idiot will end up blowing themselves up. And everything else nearby. They would have to go to filling stations where trained people can fill it up.

dont know. Local store has 16 year old girls filling propane tanks. Im sure they could find some kind of a locking nozzle that wouldnt work until its hooked up right. Guess you could rip the end off an electrics charging cord and stick your tounge on the bare wires too if your dumb enough. But we all know theres no cure for stupid.

Hydrogen can be mixed with carbon dioxide to make synthetic natural gas.  The natural gas system is already in place nationwide.  Why build a new hydrogen infrastructure.  Audi, in Germany is taking excess wind power not being used and making synthetic natural gas out of water and carbon dioxide, and making their cars run on natural gas.  They say it is easier than hydrogen alone as gas systems are already in place.
