What is your favorite cookie?
« on: April 23, 2022, 04:28:54 AM »
Cookies are like pie to me. There are only two kinds worth eating, hot and cold. My favorite would be chewy chocolate chip. My wife makes chocolate chip cookies using honey instead of sugar when she makes them. Trouble is she hasn't made any in years. I guess it is just as well. I don't need anything more to make my pants shrink. Pies are pretty scarce around this house also.

My Mom made hard cookies, crunchy , which I far prefer to soft cookies.
Favorite was Chocolate Chip, which  I learned to make my self a long, long, long time ago.
Dipped in strong hot coffee, MMMM good.

Now I prefer to put in Pecans  rather than Chocolat Chips; used to know how to make them by heart but now I have to look it up, but that gives me a reason to dig out Ma's old cook book which is a pleasant DeJa Vu.

Until late in her life, my wife made some "Ginger-molasses" cookies. Soft in texture, but never matched by any other IMO.

Favorite as in most flavorful or as
most purchased ?
I usually buy the oreo type cheap
cookies in the vanilla version.
I have 2 or 3 with coffee most
every day
As far as best tasting to me,
some version of oatmeal or the
recipe of teacakes my granny made
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Iced oatmeal, good like they are or even better when broken up and put on top of a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

Well this thread got me thinking, so I made a batch of chocolate chip-whole pecan cookies.

Used Ma's old cookbook but apparently added to much lard or to little flour; I had to bake them for 20 minutes at 355 degrees to them them cooked to the normal state.
Good though!

When trying to use out of my
mother's recipe box, I found
about half of them were incomplete
as far as specific quantities and
cooking temperatures and times, etc.

One might say-  "Add oleo to sugar"
or something  like that with no other
directions
I'd asked her about that
some time before she'd
passed, and she only said
that you're supposed to put
however much you're supposed
to use. Pretty much the same
type of answer when asked about
cooking times- whenever it's done
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

There is no exact time with baking. How many eggs? Depends on the total volume of your eggs... Trial and error is the price of learning... generally, when the toothpick comes out clean, it’s done.

Oatmeal raisin both soft and crisp.
