Storms moving through, no touch downs yet
« on: May 12, 2022, 03:11:57 PM »
A massive wind hit about 30 minutes ago, went outside to stop some large empty boxes from ending up in the next county.

Sound of the wind was very, very wierd, the old sound of a fast train a short distance away, almost a whine,  but no funnel clouds.
Supposed to be heavy rain  but that was yesterday this is mostly just nasty wind , near total darkness but very little rain; lost power for three hours when storm went through this morning.

This storm is moving at 60 mph so it is gone by the time one gets concerned. ;D

Hopefully, everyone in those areas
affected will pay attention to the
officials and evacuate or seek shelter
or whatever needs to be done, and
not run around outside in shorts and
flip flops trying to get a video to
post online ( like they do here in this area)

I could see the front moving in, it was eighty some dgrees and , I hate to say it, the war wind felt pleasnnt, plus the odd, odd sound of the wind gives you an urge to see what is coming.
I told the other half to go in and close the door and just stood there listening and watching (we are on a hillwhere you can see a long ways two ways) . I was thinking if there was any thing I had to deal with outside yet, but when it started to get black I went in.

Sirens were blowing for about one half hour straight but from different part of the multi-metro area.
I do not take pictures, and I have not worn flip-flops since I was 7 years old,  but I can see how some can hesitate at the strange happenings. 8)

Another front moving in, and we are under tornado watch till mid-night, but if I open the SouthWest door, the light show out there now in fascinating but to far away for thunder.
Supposedly we are now supposed to be getting rain but that is the one thing that is mostly lacking.

I wondering what this is going to do to fishing opener 100 miles North of here where many lake still have ice on them. but the temp. are 40 degrees cooler than down here.
Now I can hear the thunder, and I think rain.

In South Central Minnesota we had a huge dust cloud in front of the storm.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Mostly minor flooding from all I have heard so far; one area was show to have 7 inches from online weather site.

One fast food joint in the cities has a parking lot that floods and stays flooded for a bit of time -- it has been named Lake Chipoltle.

The news is now showing that people 70 miles West of hear are finding you get what you paid for when you build or live in one of those cracker-box house made out OSB and other garbage can building materials.

No twister but entire houses were flattened or blown away by the wind; I can easily imagine an entire housing area leveled one day by simple winds with these cottage tract houses that boxes, little boxes and they're all made out of ticky-tack and they're all made just the same.

I worked with a man that was
a homebuilder and general contractor
for a while, and if people could see
the haphazard way border jumpers
throw these expensive houses
together, they'd run away as fast as
they could. Kinda like they do
automotive body work
