Just saying as I am having a problem with this site and the old site?

We founded the site in 1997 not 1987. I retired in '95 and talked Matt into setting me up a website in '97.

The other GBO is that site we founded and then sold in 2014 on March 1. Matt immediately wanted me to agree to him setting up another competing site and I refused to do so. I was being paid a monthly stipend to be the chief Admin there.

Those folks we sold to then sold out to the Canadian folks who now on the site. They cut my pay in half and then began expecting twice as much from me. I turned in my resignation there as a result.

Mean time in 2019 Matt set this site up. He used the database of the old site as of March 1, 2014 as the base to establish this one. So all old posts prior to March 1, 2014 are on both sites. The other has posts from that date forward different than this one and this one has posts that are different from there beginning in whatever month of 2019 it was Matt set this one up.

So yes, as owners of the domain we began with they can claim it being founded in 1997, not 1987.

This one technically was founded in 2019 but has posts going back just as far as the other. This one is owned by us the founders of the other as well as this one.

Now as to which is better you must decide that for yourself. I think this one is. It has the same format we were using when we sold out the other site. It has the original owners, no advertising and the same rules as I enforced when we owned the other.

Each person has to decide which they think best. Ya don't even have to chose just one. I know Mule posts there as well as here and I'm sure some others do also.

We sold it with the expectation it would continue as it was when we sold it. The folks we sold it to did just that but then they sold it to the Canadian folks and they immediately started changing things.

I stop by a couple times a day now to look to see what threads have been posted to since my last visit. On an average day I might click on one of them, sometimes tho none.

There just doesn't seem to be anything of interest to me there anymore.

No need to go there at all. I was a member of the old site. Way back when when Bill owned it. Looks like my senior member status carried on to over here. In other words I'm an old member of GBO.

moved on to other interests.
I personally know a few people that
I've hunted with in the past that
have gotten completely out of
the hunting and firearms and archery
game. The affordable opportunities
that were available 2-3 decades ago
In this region are pretty much
non existent now.  Shooting firearms
for hunting practice or just for
the fun of it is way tougher, especially
for those that didn't think far enough

Thank you for being a member of GBO (here).  I am active on both.  Moderator on both.  Post on both.  The placement of question marks in the OP has me confused - not that that's difficult.  I think they were placed to establish rhetorical questions, in that there are two (2) similar "GBO" sites, to which question Graybeard has opined here (and there) on more than one occasion. 

Most of the action THERE (GBO2) today is:
Cannons & Mortars
Classified Ads
H&R Handi-rifles
with Politics, et al, not even close to the others

Most of the action HERE (GBO) today is:
...well, you know - Politics, et al.
Members may disagree - vehemently - just stay within the Rules, please.

Is this site more active than the other - day to day?

Here (from site stats):   1,975,819 Posts in 245,888 Topics by 47,756 Members
There (from ABOUT US):  over 2,600,000 posts; 59,300 members.

This site is "newer" (sort of) by seventeen (17) years and founded on the common 1997 through 2014 history of both.  Both sites have the original 17-year history of EQUAL threads and posts.  I find no stats on either to differentiate, so, since 2014, it is only possible (for me) to consider the cumulative totals. 

This (GBO) is a "remanent site" (from 1997) that emerged in 2014 after a "buy out", which went back to its original format (agreeable to membership).  It should not come as a surprise that members here are members there, whether they admit it or not.  Most members here are probably "still on the membership roll" there!

The other site (GBO2), up and running since 1997, was bought in 2014, rebranded, renamed (similarly), reformatted a couple of times on new platforms (buggering the membership both times; format change = bad, REAL bad), and, after the buy out, GBO2 became a site in similar name on its own course, under (2nd) new management (now in Canada).

Even as a Global Moderator, I have less insight in the other site.  Under GBO2 management there is less information available to me - or I can't find it because I am just not looking in the right place (site platform issue).
