T/C Customer Service

I had posted a few times in the past and have dogged the encore because I could not get my 45 to shoot anywhere that I aimed. I had the gun for almost two years and lost all hope that I could ever get the barrel to shoot and group like I had seen the black diamond do. I called today to check the status of the barrel as I had enough and sent it back after numerous attempts with powder and bullets. It had been about a month and two or three times a week I would call and check status. I talked to Richie the fellow who had the pleasure of testing my barrel and he could not get it to group either and they are sending me out a new *tested* barrel under my lifetime warranty. I wanted to take the time and say thanks T/C because I really thought I would have to fight to get a barrel that would shoot. It sure is nice to see a company stand behind there work, I cannot wait until I try out the new one.
Thanks

What bullets were you using in your .45? Conicals or sabots? If you had a barrel with 1:20 twist it was designed to shoot the longer/bigger conicals.

Since TC is sending you a new barrel you will probably get the new 1:28 twist for either conicals or sabots.  The slower twist will probably shoot the sabots better.

I must have gotten lucky with my barrel with 1:20 as it likes the .451 conicals, they load very easy and don't shoot bad.  I am still looking for that sweet load and hope to find it before hot weather sets in again.

I did go back to pyrodex P instead of T7 fffg.  I got way too much crud ring with T7 and don't have it with pyro.  I couldn't tell much difference in clean up either other than the smell of pyro.

Hope you like the new barrel and she is a shooter.  Keep us informed of your progress.

I had tried both pyro and T7 both ffg and fffg.Let me start on the bullets, three different weights of powerbelts, hornady 180 xtp, three different weights of DC, maxi-ball, 155&180&195 regular sabots, 355 grain lead conicals. I think that about covers it and I also changed the weight of powder from 40 to 150 grains. It was a nightmare, after everything though I am not sure wether I am going to stick with the encore or go smokeless, looks very appealing. Who knows but I did want to congratulate T/C for agreeing that the barrel I had which did have a 1:28 twist just would not shoot and making it right. Doesn't take away all the money I shot trying to get the barrel to shoot or the shot I missed at the biggest buck I ever got to shoot at in the woods after more than 10 years of hunting. He was 170 yards but that is not far from impossible with the good rest I had. Clean missed that deer! Life goes on and on....
Thanks and if I shoot it I will post the new results, after looking at the barrel since it arrived today I cannot see how they worked up a load on it because the breech plug is clean and the barrel has no residue.

Well tuck I had the same crap happen to me with my 45 cal. ml barrel when I first bought it. I couldn't get it to group with anything that I put through it either so I had the rifling checked in it and found out that it had a 1:20 twist in it. I sent it back to t/c twice the first time they told me to that it was fine and to shoot the hornady 180gr. bullets in it and that I would get 1" groups @ 100 yds.....wrong.. So I sent it back again with a letter and told them that I was tired of dealing with it and that I shouldn't have to deal with it and I shouldn't have to be going through all this work trying to get this thing just to shoot a group and that it should of never left the factory like it was and just to send me a new one, I asked for a 50 cal. but they sent me another 45 cal. but it is suppose to have 1:28 twist in it. But so far I haven't found anything that will shoot in it yet, it better be a 1:28 twist. This was the second factory barrel that was a lemon that I have gotten from T/C.
