Talking about spelling bees..
Perhaps you can remember when presidents would show up to draw attention to the national spelling bee winner.
I believe Obama continued the practice for his first year, then trashed the idea. I wondered then.."why did he dump this annual event"?
Just a bit of thought would clarify the reason...
1) Too many winner were home schooled.
2) those not home schooled, were students at Christian schools.
3) If a public school student, they were very often ethnically of east Indian origin..
..which may have crimped his "diversity" ideal.
