I'm loading for a new barrel chanbered in 270 Ren.  My question pertains to the 110 Hornady V-Max 270 cal bullet.  Will this bullet expand/fragment at a muzzle velocity of approx 1600 fps if shots on groundhogs are limited to 100 yards ?  Thanks.  Need your opinions.

Hi,

I don't have an opinion to offer on the bullet, but I am quite interested in the cartridge.  I'm thinking about chambering a schuetzen rifle to it, and could use any guidance you can give as to loads, chambering, throating, etc.  Do you know where a reamer can be rented?  I was considering having one made for myself because i couldn't find a rental.

Rupe/PA,
the best thing you can do is shoot Hornady an email asking them about this bullet. they will tell you just what it was desinged to do and if it will not fit your needs should be able to tell you what ones they have that will.
