Nothing here
Dry dry dry

Buncha grass fires and drunk
pinheads letting their barbecue
grills get away.
26 homes burned a bit over 10
miles away from here
Lots of smaller cigarette butt
fires along the roads

Yeah, if the Ogallala Aquafer ever dries up this country is finished. It's been low for years. The mega dairies out here west of us have started recycling their water, and farmers are using sprinklers.

Where I live it's ranching and we use metal stock tanks. We've got two pond that have held a good amount of water all summer.

I guess it missed us  :(. Still i have a 1000 gal polymer tank i keep water in. We had to use it once when our water well had to be repaired, It’s a chore to keep moss from growing in it. A little bit of special bleach takes care of that. A rancher showed me how to do that.

We have been getting just about the right amount of rain, since the dry spell of the last couple weeks.  Not many cloudbursts, but usually overnight soakers.

I heard West Virginia/Kentucky border area picked up 9-10 inches in one day.  That's a lot of water, for those narrow valley streams to handle..

Same 'ol, same 'ol thing here. 99 degrees right now and some cotton ball clouds floating around. A brick is only slightly harder than the ground around here. The pastures are the same tan color they have been since the killing freeze last winter. At least I have ha to pison few weeds this year and bugs are almost nonexistant.

Rare occurrence here, a couple days a go.  Local tornado took a barn down ..about 20 miles from me.

Rain returned last week after a couple weeks hiatus, have to mow my own and the legion lawns today.

How close to Alamogordo are you?

As the crow flies' 151.5 miles. Over the road, 191, if I remember correctly. It has been years since I traveled there. I am only 28 miles west of the Texas line if I am a crow. Since I am earthbound I have to drive about 29 miles to be back in my home state. I was in Lubbock this last weekend and in Denver City Thursday and it is pretty bleak over there. All the dryland farms are bare and many of the irrigated are to going to Lubbock. There are a higher number of irrigated farms with crops on the way to DC. Some cotton, more with goobers, but probably a third fallow.

It was 80 degrees this morning ,it surprised me to see that when I went outside. Hope it stays that way awhile.
Can't seem to get an accurate forecast anywhere, they are all saying a different thing.

I am a dummy. I typed in 28 miles as the distance I live from Texas and didn't proofread. It's only 18. I was over there yesterday and have to be again tomorrow. That is after spending two nights and days there last week. Truth be told, I'm getting tired of going to Texas.

We go to Lubbock a lot, for mostly shopping. Take an ice chest with us just in case.

Seldom and never are my preferences for going to Lubbock. Unfortunately you do have to go for some medical procedures which is head and shoulders, let's make that ankles to shoulders, better than going to Albuquerque--and much closer.

It's raining here right now, we could use it, as it's been on the dry side.
