Model 1893 Manufacture Date?
« on: March 12, 2004, 06:48:09 AM »
Where can I find info that will show when a Marlin Model 1893 was made, serial number 273,XXX. I was given the rifle recently and I am trying to find out about it. It is in .32-40 caliber, does anyone know where I might obtain ammunition? Thanks.

Your gun should date to about 1903. If you don't reload, the .32-40 will be a bit of a problem. Some of the small custom ammo makers are providing ammo for the .32-40, but it's expensive, and most is loaded with blackpowder. Give The Old West Scrounger a try. He has a web site.
