WWII Draft Dodger. The Real John Wayne!
« on: August 18, 2022, 02:16:37 PM »
Some times the truth is hard for some to swallow, but John Wayne chose his acting career and his illicit sex life before his country.
Anyone that wants to can live in denial concerning this famous actor, but he did what he did. Fame, cowardice, and sex before country was John Waynes' choices.

His agent, and his movie production company put lipstick on this pig, and relied on peoples short term memories. And it worked.  ;)

Married John Waynes' illicit lover, German actress Marlene Dietrich was far more patriotic than drafte dodging John Wayne.

Dee, you are doing the exact same thing you say TM7 was doing.

The article in Military.com is quoted from a couple of books from '96 and 2014.  Both of these may be from revisionist authors and have to be checked out.

However, this is a quote from Wikipedia about why he didn't enlist.  He didn't have to and couldn't be drafted either:

America's entry into World War II resulted in a deluge of support for the war effort from all sectors of society, and Hollywood was no exception. Wayne was exempted from service due to his age (34 at the time of Pearl Harbor) and family status (classified as 3-A – family deferment). Wayne repeatedly wrote to John Ford saying he wanted to enlist, on one occasion inquiring whether he could get into Ford's military unit.[39] Wayne did not attempt to prevent his reclassification as 1-A (draft eligible), but Republic Studios was emphatically resistant to losing him, since he was their only A-list actor under contract. Herbert J. Yates, president of Republic, threatened Wayne with a lawsuit if he walked away from his contract,[40] and Republic Pictures intervened in the Selective Service process, requesting Wayne's further deferment.[41]

[41] is from the book "John Wayne American".

So which is it?  Don't do what you accuse others of doing.  Research it.

So your considered research is Wikipedia?
I said in the beginning. His agent and the movie production company re-invented his persona, and you yourself stated the movie company intervened in the military drafting him, and "aided him" in dodging the draft.

I first heard of John Waynes draft dodgin antics when i was a kid in the late fifties, early sixties  when WWII vets would cuss him when someone would bring up one of his movies. Later in life i remembered those times and began looking into it. The WWII vets were right.

I've provided websites that fairly well document what actually happened. You can believe, or not, doesn't matter to me, but his actions concerning WWII are known history since WWII.

Others like Clarke Gable, Jimmy Stewart, and others put their careers on hold, and went to war, but not ole John. He was busy beddin Marlene Dietrich while still married to his 1st wife.

Tommy Lee Jones is another actor that plays the patriotic movie parts. Really great in westerns, but in reality a raging liberal who campaigned for AL Gore.

There's what they portray, and then there's the truth.

What? Slow day yesterday with nothing going on? This is old, old news and there are differing accounts of it. We are literally drowning in scumbags that are actively trying to tear down and ruin this country and you pick a long dead guy to hammer on. It's over and done with. Let it go and move on. I have.

It was brought up in another thread so I started a thread on it. I do however agree, he's dead and gone.

I'd rather talk about a real WWII hero like Jimmy Stewart. He was a better actor  also.

Neither are revelent to today except their movies were better than 98% of the trash that is being turned out now. I say let them rest in peace whatever personal failings they had. From what of some of the things I have read a huge number of the famous actors of their era were not really good examples of man and womanhood.

Jimmy Stewart didn't like working with blacks.

Will Smith has made a fortune from several movies, mostly SciFi. I like him so do a lot of people. He’s about our best now so is Keanu Reeves.  But Eastwood still hauls them in. Women, i cant really say who. Only Scarlet Johansson, or Sandra Bullock. Neither of them are doing much now.
