CCI BLAZER AMMO FOR DEFENSE?

I'm having a hard time finding American made primers and am wanting to freshen up my carry ammo. I've shot some of the CCI Blazer ammo several years back but don't remember much about it.

I'm lookin at some CCI Blazer 38 Special +P in 125 grain JHP for my EDC Airweight.

Anybody got any experience, or information on this ammo?

Back in the 80s I shot a lot of blaser 38s in my old colt cobra and back then it was aluminum cased.

Now the old gun rattles like a tin can of rocks and is probably unsafe to shoot.

  Nt asking about the high-end ammo. I want to know about the ammo in the Blazer aluminum case 125 grain jhp +P

The only Blazer I've ever used is 45ACP

I've only used Blazer in 9mm and .40 S&W but I've shot a lot of both and it's fine performing ammo. I didn't realize they were making it in JHP for .38 special. I've not seen any of that listed anywhere.

But overall it's fine ammo, basically same as the Speer and Federal lines. It's all owned by same folks. The aluminum rather than brass case generally saves you about $2 per 50 rounds. Not a big deal but a savings and to me ammo quality is as good as any of it.

I dont buy much factory ammo. I like gold dot factory ammo and have a stash of it for most calibers for ccw.  but there 22 blazers are good 22 ammo and id have to guess if its cci it isnt junk.

Thanks Bill and Lloyd.  That's what I wanted to know.  I was surprised that they were making it in 125 grain JHP also. CCI has always made a good product so I was thinking that this 125 JHP isn't gonna be a  target round.

I have shot quite a bit of Blaser aluminum in 9mm over the years. Never had a failure and it seemed to be just as powerful as other brands. My testing medium was caliche rocks and it turned them into gravel just a well as any other brand did. Academy used to sell it for $5.50 for a box of 50. I was in Academy last Friday and it was $17.99. Just to show what inflation does it has been less than 20 years between those two prices.

Well, the CCI BLAZER ammo arrived yesterday. Typical aluminum case, but 125 grain JHP+P as advertised.
Shot 5 rounds through my Airweight Smith this morning to see how they shot.

Not uncomfortable to shoot, nor overly hot, but they'll do.

I have 300 110 grain Remington SJHP on the way, gonna load em warm for my model 15. Thinking 1100 fps or better

I have 200 rounds of 125 grain jhp bullets, plenty of powder, but no primers. I'd load them to 1550fps for my main carry if I could get primers.

Finally got around to checking the box on these loads. They advertise 940 feet per second.  That'll work.
