I saw a couple of reports of the
people jumping, but never heard
any splattering. I did see the
skies empty of all aircraft but the
fighters patrolling, and the gas
stations here raising the prices
a dollar every 30 minutes. IIRC
the government stepped in and
it never made it to $6.00 a gallon,
but it got close. For whatever reason
that escapes me, I was at home and
had just clicked on the television
when the second jetload of terrorists
and victims hit the second tower.
I ran outside and got every gas can
I had and rushed up to the station
and filled those and topped off.
I got back and decided to buy 2
more cans. By the time I got back
to the gas station, the price had
already raised by a dollar and a
a quarter or a dollar and a half,
I don't precisely recollect. I do
remember the price was raised
about every half hour until it was
nearly 6 dollars before they all
got their hand slapped. Many
stations were out for days
