This guy with iron sights and standing hits the plate out at 1160 yards with his lever gun.

Not too bad.....if you can see the target!

Nice!
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

doesnt suprise me much. Ive done some 800-1000 yard big bore pistol shooting. A 3030 is much flatter shootint then a 44 mag or 500 linebaugh.

Watched the video to see how he made up for over 80 feet of bullet drop.  He stood on a hill - good plan, otherwise it would be more like a mortar or artillery arc.

For many years my dream has been to take an elk with my 30-30 and open sights. Not at a 1,000 yards, I’m thinking 150 max.

For many years my dream has been to take an elk with my 30-30 and open sights. Not at a 1,000 yards, I’m thinking 150 max.
I worked with a man from western colorado
that I frequently talked with about different
hunting things.
He had worked a good many years on a
large ranch that had a good many elk
and mule deer. One time we had talked
about firearms, and I had mentioned that
the "biggest " rifle I had at the time was
a .308 and I wouldn't be able to hunt
colorado with that.  He gave me a look
like I had a third eye in my forehead.
He told me that most of the ranchhands
there regularly killed elk and mule deer
with 30/30 winchesters and marlins
and the cheapest ammo they could find.
Most were shot out of a truck window at
50-75-100 yards and didn't need but the
one shot. Make a hole in the right place
to shut down the pump and they die

Arnold said in one of his movies that
" If it bleeds, we can kill it.  . "
Very true
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Ballsy shot!
Been reloading for my rifle several years and haven’t come up with a load that groups well enough to give me confidence for a shot like that.
3030 from a truck with cheap ammo would be the trifecta! :)
My cowboy friends have always said the elk don’t mind a vehicle driving by but once they hear a door open they start to care.
