180 grain hornady ssp at mag not Max velocity

Out of a 16” tube. How is the performance on deer? I also have 158 grn soft/flat points and lead swc’s out the biden errr wazoo...

The 158 jacketed flat point is prolly the best choice for rifle length barrels. I'd expect some expansion from the 180 but not a lot. I believe you are talking about the spitzer type if I recall that bullet correctly. It was designed for those super long barrel single shots some call handguns. I can't recall tho which round it was intended for, I think the .35 Remington mostly but also the Max.
