We have had that here twice in the past thirty years and if the talking TV weather heads actually had to go out in that type of temps. they would know how much BS their wind-chill bollocks is.

Minnesota, as far as I know. has not had any temps. beyond the minus Twenties this year; I wish this sub-zero weather would stick around a bit longer, while it costs me money, it also keeps the riff-raff out of the state. 8)

One day back in -February 1961, the town where I live had the national low temperature at -41F..

I blew up a car battery on that day, and had to get a fresh haircut..

The temp may be the same but high winds suck heat off your body unless you are dressed for it. I dont give wind chills any attention but I do give high winds full focus.

day two here of the bad stuff. It amazed us when we built the new house how quiet it was with triple paned windows. You about couldnt hear anything outside but believe me. The last two days you knew is was blowing outside. It took me three hours to blow snow for me and my two neighbors yesterday and it usually take an hour and a half and this moring the drifts are twice as high as yesterday. My granddaughter came up from lower michigan last night and they stopped them and said they were allowed to cross the bridge with anything in the back of the truck or a tanoue cover. They said a number of covers had been ripped off trucks by the wind. They had to much in the back to fit in the truck (little standard cab nissan) so they had to have her father drive a 150 miles, cross the bridge, load up all her stuff in his truck and then they let them go across. She said they wouldnt let tractor trailers across either and they were lined up for miles on both sides.

Back when that record of -41 happened here, that wasn't "wind chill", it was the actual temp. As I recall, they weren't playing around with 'wind chill' back in 1961.
