Stanley utility knife
« on: November 10, 2022, 07:46:08 AM »
A good while back my regular
old fashioned old school metal
Stanley utility knife came up
MIA, and of course nobody had
seen it or knew where it was so
I had to get another.
Buying another or finding one
wasn't a problem. They're everywhere.
I didn't realize until I got it out
of the package and ready to use
it that the outside part was the
traditional cast pot metal handle
and the other half was some sort
of plastic. I probably should have
returned it to the store right then
and there, but I was needing it
to use and didn't have the time
for a trip to the store.
Using it, the blade goes out in
the traditional fashion with the
brass grooved knob you push
down with your thumb and slide
it out, but after cutting something
and trying to get it to retract,
that was a different story. It was
pretty much jammed forward and
out with the blade exposed.
Later I tried it again and it worked
like nothing was ever wrong. I set
it aside for a long time and I finally
needed it for some other something
and it's jammed again

If you're buying a Stanley utility knife,
make sure it's the all-metal
unit, and not the hybrid half
metal half plastic. Waste of
scarce dollars
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
