Bucket lists.-.
« on: January 30, 2023, 09:07:22 AM »
We  hear folks talk about "bucket lists"...  I once had a3-4 item bucket list, that I doubt will be fulfilled.  A couple items  were a trip to the Holy Lan, and a trip to then "old sod".. that being a trip to Scotland, from whence came my original progenitor to this land, in about 1650.
..But I never accomplished them, so no big deal.. Close as I got was to see the UK from the channel, specifically the White Cliffs at Dover.
I have had several folks tell me I should write a book, an autobiography...But speaking succinctly..I don't figure my
life to have been anything worth "writing home about"..
I did tell them if they would provide me with a recording device, I may spend some hours recalling earlier years.
    ...No device yet..

I have seen various bucket lists, but none of them would work for me, any better than the one provided below.

Do you have a list, or partial list?

Never wanted to leave the United States for any reason. Always figured there was plenty to look at here.

I've been blessed to have had a certain amount of success at anything I ever wanted to do, and was richly blessed  to be debt free over 30 years ago.

Now, I was fortunate to find a part time job doing what I wanted to do when I was young, but couldn't make a good living doing it.

Linda and I have the usual old age stuff, but I can get on a good horse anytime I want, or need to, and they'll pay me to do it.

Beats sitting around waiting to die. I see whitetail, mulies, turkey, coyotes, and quail all the time. Right now I've got two baby calves to watch grow, with more expected.
I can mess with my horse, and get paid for it. The ranch takes care of his feed bill, new shoes when needed, and any vet bills, vaccinations, what ever.

Never really had any kind of bucket list

When I used to play the lotto regularly, I
was thinking if I won a jackpot I'd buy
a brand new street bike since I've never
had an unused one, and start at the top
of the panhandle and start working my
way down and back and forth across the
state and pass through every county.
I've passed lots of different roads over
the years and thought " I wonder where
that goes?. . "
Instead of wondering, I'd exit and follow
the road and see exactly where it went.
I figured several years for that
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Sounds like a great idea, Ranger. I admit I had considered the same idea with my scooter..packing camping gear
and exploring several states. Perhaps even visiting a couple nieces out near Carson City, NV..

Never touching an interstate highway, which I cannot use anyway.  I would be limited to a cruising speed of no more than about 40, but-- on country roads..that's plenty.

Another pipe dream..get gear together, along with a small dog or cat for a pal, buy a small sail boat.. and launching
into Lake Ontario, sail all the Great Lakes into Lake Superior.  Camp on shore or on small islands..now and then taking a comfortable room ashore. Seems like an old fellow could write an interesting book, covering that journey.

..But alas, may have waited too long.. See "Ruffy" below. Well, not really my scooter, but one just like it..
