Hatch green chile salsa.
« on: February 13, 2023, 08:09:12 AM »
If no one knows, Hatch, NM is quite famous in these parts for it's green chile production. My wife found the salsa and we just polished off the jar today. It's a very good store bought salsa. Funny thing is it's red in color but tastes like green chile. Red dye, mix in some red peppers? I don't don't know but it's still good stuff.

Where did she find that? Would love to have some. Gonna be down your way this week, for a big wedding in Hobbs.

Hatch is actually a type of chile; which brand did you buy, there are lots.

I have seen it up here on occasion.

What brand? Hatch, same brand as the diced green chilies we purchase. My wife puts green chile in a lot of the dishes she cooks. I am not a fan of most spaggetti sauces or even spaggetti for that matter but my wife makes a meat sauce with green chiles that makes it good. She does a bang up good potato and green chile soup too. Same with a beef and vegtable soup/stew. There are a lot of brands of diced green chiles available but Hatch brand is the best we have found plus you hardly ever get a piece of stem in the can.

Phalanx, the only place I have seen it is in Bob's at Lovington. That is also where I can find Hell On The Red salsa, our favorite. I have no idea where to look in Hobbs.

Thanks, I’ll ask someone where Bobs is , when we are going through that town. It sounds like a small town homemade thing. Are you getting this high wind down there? I Hope it doesn't mess up our roof or cause rageing grass fires. These home insurance company’s sure do keep an eye on that.

It is easy to find Phalanx. Just make a right turn at the stop light on main and avenue D and head to the next light west. It will be right in front of you on your right, about 1/2 mile. Get read for a rough ride down main as you go south as the state has everything messed up rebuilding the street. It isn't quite as bad when you go back north.

Bob, that is it on the right of your post. I haven't seen either of the others. My wife likes it because she can no longer do medium or hot salsa. Funny thing is she could eat hot stuff that I wouldn't think about touching when we married and now things are reversed.

I’d still give it a try. Big bag of homemade Rosas tortilla chips, not that commercial stuff thats all busted up in the bag.
Like a bunch of drunk monkeys are stocking them.  >:( What’s your favorite, green or red or do you mix them together?

After that Extravagant wedding. We went to the Albertsons market in Hobbs. And found what you were talking about there.
HATCH pepper salsa in a jar, red or green. We are going to do the mix thing when we get back home. And we got one of those big pillow size bags  of El Charro chips. Which aren’t all busted up. My Wife loaded up a lot of stuff in the trunk from our visit there.
