It's ignored by our state government. The TV stations used to carry some coverage about the problems along the border and conditions were bad but there has been little to nothing for months and months. All TV is Alburquque based and maybe the powers that be whispered in their ear about going along to get along with the thinking of the governor that there.is no problem There is nothing in the local papers but we are a long way from the border and one only carries local news and the other area news meaning three NM counties and two in Texas.
When our current idiot in charge took office she went to the border crossing at Santa Threasa which is jammed up against the northwest corner of El Paso and has high chain link fences and said she saw nothing wrong, went back to Santa Fe and withdrew the National Guard and far as she's concerned the wetbacks can do as they please.
All she is interested in is consolidating state power under the governor, handing out huge raises to state employees and school school teachers to buy votes to retain that power and the DIMocrats that dominate state government follow along like puppy dogs. The largest state budget by a long shot was just passed this weeks to satisfy her wants and even some of the DIMocrats that expressed concerns about the sustainability voted yea. The state's main problem is all the woke dumbasses in the legislature that didn't learn math. No one has time to worry or do anything about the influx of wetbacks, it's all about buying votes for the DIMocrats. It's a subject that just isn't mentioned in the news even if I think I'm in Mexico when I go in a store because I hear little English spoken.
Edited to add: It's a straight shot north from El Paso, the eastern end of our border with Mexico, on I-25 on to the upper states. I don't know about now but the Border Patrol used to have a check point north of TC on I-25 but it was easy to turn off on a side road and go around it even then. It reinforced my opinion that that the federal government wasn't very concerned about wetbacks and drugs even back in those days. I haven't driven that stretch of road in many, many years so don't know if it's still the same or not.
