Russian made SKS?

I just picked this one up, Its a 1954 model in very good shape, It has a star on the reciever and CCCP stamped in the side, screw in barrel instead of pinned and the bayonet is a flat blade instead of the three sided one. I know its still just an SKS but could this have more value than a chinese version or any of the bazillion others for that matter? I didn't pay anymore for it but its not what you normally see around here. Thanks

The russian refurb sks's are showing up at gun shows here for $250 NIB.
the orginal condition ones are worth more but it also depends on what condition they are in too. I believe the russian sks's are the top ones with the chinese a close second. Years ago there wasn't too much difference in prices when the dealers had both for sale maybe $30 to $40 between the two. But now I would check sites like guns america, gun broker or auction arms to see how much they are asking for them. BigBill
The refurbs have painted covers and that little square on the cover (that looks like the diver down flag) and lamiated stocks.

Yes, the russian ones are worth more. That's why I sold mine for 2x the original price. As my rich uncle once said "you never go broke by taking a profit".

Refurbs will have a small box with a "slash" through it on the top cover usually by the year stamp as well. As mentioned laminate stocked rifles are refurbs as well as ones with blued bolts or bayonets.
Here's a shot of my '54. I bought it for $99 about 4 years ago when they were plentiful
I have a Russian, Yugo and a Albanian, they are lots of fun to shoot. Have fun with yours!
