What is the "O ring trick"

I heard of a way of accurizing an encore by using o-rings in the mounting of the foreend. How does that work? Thanks.

I don't want to step on any toes, but if you want to know, it's putting a rubber washer between forearm and barrel at each of the 2 screws.  This weekend, however, I proved this to be bull in my case.  I have a custom EABCO 6.5-06 Ackley barrel that was stringing shots no matter what I did.  I made my own forearm, and bedded the two contact points where the screws attatch to the barrel.  I finally tried the rubber washers trick to no avail....then I rested the rear of the forearm (almost touching the receiver) on the front bag.  This was my only 3 shots using this technique, and there was a little wobble.

This trick won't always work. There are several ways of achieving the same results. Personally I prefer to relieve the forearm every where but where the screws come through. Making the only contact points around the screws. This has always worked well for me.   KN
