Been out twice so far, have not seen or heard any. Caught a black racer out there yesterday to keep from getting bored.

I had 3 not 50 yards from me on Saturday, gobbling their dang heads off, this went on for about 10 minutes then a quartet of hens joined them and off they went. I heard 5 seperate birds that day. I only heard 2 yesterday. I will be hunting them hard the next 3 days.

Steelhead, I am in NWFL also, where specifically were you. I was in deep in the heart of Blackwater WMA close to the river bed.

We've seen sign, feathers and fresh tracks, but the big boys are quiet as church mice. They're there, but they ain't talkin'. I guess the heavy pressure has shut them up.

Rogmatt,

I am in the corner, Alabama to the north, Georgia to the east.

I killed on on Tuesday, 20 pounds, 9inch beard and 1inch spurs.

I had another longbeard about 30 yards from me on Wed, but I had my fiancee with me, and decided to just enjoy the show. He hang around for about 40 minutes. After he left she asked me why I didn't shoot him.

Had a jake 25 yards out yesterday. They are pretty henned up right now.

I saw three long beards and about 12 hens this afternoon in PA. while I was driving home.  One of the long beards was strutting.  All three gobblers were about the same size with 10" beards.  I was returning home from scouting in NY and PA.  I did not see any sign in our hunting area.  People are seeing strutters but nothing is gobbling yet.

Hey V M
We have a special youth hunt here April,3 for 15 and younger
As for the rest of us we will have to wait till April 10

Those birds werent gobblin much just a couple times each.....(just as the sun popped up) but sure got me wanting to go though.

I saw a Tom with two hens in the corner of a pasture field (last week). He was in full strut.
maybe they are starting to break out of that winter time shell.
