What thickness leather?
« on: April 09, 2004, 12:49:25 AM »
I'm going to start on a gun rig for a pair of converted 61 navies, just a simple high ride rig with little or no embelishments.

What once leather do you guys recomend?  All I've got on hand right now is 12-13 once and 8-9 once, think that would be a little thick for small holsters.

Thanks,  Will

I like a stiff holster, so I always use in the 7-10oz range.   Are the navies short barrels?  If they are full length, I don't think the 8-9 is too thick for slim jims.

They are short barrels, I've got some 2 once, but that's just a little too thin!

I think I'll go with the 8-9 once, if need be I'll skive it down a little.

It's time to order a new hide anyway.

Thanks, I've never made a holster before so was unsure.
