Is the .223 effective in shorter courses. Say 300 yards or less.

The rules prohibit .223 and the high velocity causes target damage.

minimum is 6mm bullet. no magnums. yes to .308

Most folk around here that shoot high power like the 7mm-08, which as you know is a cut down .308. I like the 308 because I can do anything with it and have military surplus ammo to practice with.
