Hunting economics 101 question
« on: September 27, 2004, 09:26:18 AM »
After all incidental costs are factored in, how does the price of a typical U.S. elk hunt compare with the cost of a two week plains game hunt in, say, Tanzania?  Assume minimal taxidermy: Antlers and horns prepared in the Eurpean style, and unmounted.  Skins tanned. No heads mounted.

You picked a location with few species of plains game that is about the most expensive place to hunt in Africa. It also requires several additional flights to get there. Tanzania is near the top of the heap for expense along with Botswana.  Not  places I would even consider for plains game. For dangerous game yes, not typical plains species.
