I was thinking about using Hornady Custom .22-250 V-Max Molys for shootin yotes. I do save hides though. Does anyone have any info on this ammo?

i have not tryed them yet but a buddy of mine said he is using the 50gr vmax and likes it. he said he has had a few shoot though i didnt ask how manny a few would be but he is still loading them.

I load 55gr Vmax Molys in my .22-250, use them to shoot groundhogs. They shoot good (less than 1/2" group @100 yds) but really make a mess of the groundhog. I haven't shot any coyotes with them, but I don't think they would be the best choice if you want to avoid pelt damage.

yote slayer, i shoot 40 gr v-max molys out of my savage heavy barrel 22-250. They shoot around a half inch at a hundred. I shot 10 yotes this winter with them, from 30 to 350 yds and they were very fur friendly!! Had a couple exits but they were just little chunks of bullet and bone, the largest of the exits might have been as big as a lead pencil. These are runnin about 4150 fps.
I also shoot the 55 gr vm molys in a 223 hvy bbl savage. These shoot one jagged hole at a hundred. I've shot coyotes with these also, they are pretty friendly too if you hit them square, however a little high or low or a tough raking shot they make big holes, it pretty much rips them open!! these are runnin somewhere around 3300 fps. They will also vaporize a prairie poodle!!!!!
the 40's are a little drifty in the wind but i think the speed helps!!

I tried the 55 gr. Hornady V-Max in my .223 WSSM and it is not a bullet that is friendly to coyote pelts. I shot five coyotes with the 55 gr. V-Max and was able to keep the pelt off one. The lighter weight V-Max's seem to expand inside without exiting thus saving the hide. But if the shot is from an angle and the bullet hits a rib the entrance hole can be hugh. Lawdog
