is there a 30 herrette case necked down to 7 mm, 6.5 or 6 mm?

I think a necked down 30 herrette to 7 mm out of a 10 inch contender barrel would be a great deer round, should be better then the 7-30

Somebody somewhere has probably done it, and you're right it should work well. However, I'm not sure you'd gain much over a 7 TC-U since the pressures would need to be held lower due to the bigger case head. I suspect you'd end up pretty close in performance for a lot more expense of dies and a reamer.

I got me a 14 inch 7tcu and love it. But the shorter case may be more efficient

The closest I can think of is the E.A. Brown 7mm Ultimate Silhouette. A 30-30 case at 1.75" .  Website @ www.eabco.com/images/reload034.gif   for numbers, /reload031.gif    for case drawing.
