Has anyone picked up a copy of the latest issue of Man At Arms? The cover is a quiz. It is a photograph of a Colt's dragoon-a third model by the serial number. But the frame is modified slightly and the cylinder is seriously altered at the rear. It is still of the percussion persuasion, but it has a removable ring that seems to index to the cylinder, and shrouds the nipples. Only thing I can think of is that it was an attempt to eliminate chain fires. Any thoughts?

I have not seen the mag,but it sounds like richards type conversion,perc. to ctg.

Yes, except that this ring fits onto a cylinder that retains its nipples. There is a hole bored for each nipple and the plate fits over the nipples. It's hard to tell, but I believe the hammer has been modified. It appears to be a Colt prototype.
