I missed out on one of these about 12 - 13 years ago at a local Cabelas. It was well worn but no cracks or bad damage to the wood and was in 35 Rem.
It was priced under $ 400.00 and I didn’t know anything about them so I did not buy it that day. After I was home I looked the M 425’s up and found they were good guns of a strong design and were quite rare to find.
So the next day I went back to get it and as you guessed it was gone.   :-\
Since then I have found several on Gunbroker and others listed online and they all were over double the price of the one at Cabelas, so for now it’s just “If another comes along at the right price “ sort of thing.
I have told myself that I cannot buy anymore guns unless it’s just to good to pass up and something that I will actually use.
Like I said that was a while ago and now I am trying to dispose of a bunch of guns as I am at the point where I can no longer shoot them all, do not have any room to keep them and no one to leave them to.

I am surprised that no one developed this style of action now for leverguns. It reminds me of the Savage 99 action where the bolt drops down in the rear to unlock then slides rearward for the cartridge to be lifted and then pushed into the chamber and the bolt raises up to be supported by the receiver.
It’s certainly a strong design but like the Savage 99 probably too costly to machine and produce to be competitive with Henry’s and Rossi’s.

They are great guns until something breaks then there are no parts so you either remake the broke one , completely make and fit a new one or set it in the corner and just admire it every so often. They were in the $300 or less range 10 years ago but now have a following and the last one I saw sold for $800+ dollars. I'd love to have one but not for that kind of money all things considered.
