I'm thinking about getting a Katahdin barrel for my Encore.
Opinions appreciated in regards to accuracy, recoil, caliber etc.
Thanks

Katahdin thoughts

I considered buying a Katahdin barrel but have not for two reasons: first is that they are not offered in any of my "first choice" calibers and second is that they are not offered in stainless steel.
I bought my Encore in stainless for a reason and I would be more likely to purchase this and other barrels if they were available in stainless steel.
I finally decided that the 18 inch barrel is desireable and I will eventually order a custom in a caliber I like, stainless of course!
Can't understand why TC doesn't make the Realtree comp into pistol foreends and grips either. Many of us would like a matching pistol grip to go with some of our rifle foreends.
Thanks for asking . . .

I too, considered one (in either .444 or .45/70.) Passed because of one big sticking point.....muzzle break. I Dont want one and they only come with them.
Good day,

I got pretty close to buying one in 444 marlin, but would probably just end up using it as a long pistol rig anyway and I already have a 15 inch 450 Marlin - so I set this one on the back burner for the time being. I figure if I ever run across one at a bargin price I will pick it up.

but passed for similar reasons,
had a 15" 30-06 with muzzle break, hated the noise and mess it kicked up.
can only imagine what the 450 marlin would do, settled for a 24" 45-70 and love it, R
