Does anyone here shoot 360 DW in their NEF Handi in 357 mag? I have heard this round takes advantage of the longer NEF 357 mag throat without having to ream it 357 max. Brass is readily available, and you can use your 357 mag dies. Sounds like an easy way to increase performance. THANKS!

1867 fps with a 158 grain bullet in a 10" barrel, do you think it would reach 2000 fps out of a 22" handi?

I'd say so 10 ga I've gotton 2650 outta some 158gr rounds in my Max and 2200 useing some .357 mag loads 2000 is easy outta rifle barrel.

I don't own a chrono but i've heard it tell that you can add 50 fps to every inch of barrel length added as a rule. According to this formula your load would be traveling at 2400 fps second from a 22" barrel. Hmmm, that sounds a tad optimistic but it does make me think that your 2000 fps goal would be easily attainable.

That 50 fps is optimistic. It's probably the best case scenerio in large bottleneck cases. In straight wall cases with a case full of H-110 or WC-680, it would be about half that. With .38 Special wadcutters from a Handi, the gain is roughly nil. I get roughly the same speeds with a six inch revolver that I get in the Handi with light loads.
